Prof. Jensen is a Professor in the Section for Plant and Soil Sciences at the University of Copenhagen in Denmark. He has authored a large number of research publications on nutrient cycling in agro-ecosystems, and is the first author of a chapter in the “European Nitrogen Assessment” on benefits of nitrogen for food, fibre and industrial production.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Oene Oenema for his Chairmanship over the past 4 years and his efforts in promoting an easy-to-use indicator for nitrogen use efficiency (NUE) in the food chain in Europe and beyond. By taking the lead in publishing the report on Nitrogen Use Efficiency in 2015, Prof. Oenema has greatly helped to highlight the importance of the concept of NUE as well as helped the panel create impact not just on European level, but also had an impact on scientific developments in North America and around the world.

In the coming months, the members of the EUNEP under the Chairmanship of Lars Stoumann Jensen will focus on the identification on Best Management Practices for improving NUE at farm level.
